About
Imperial Valley Drug Free Communities Coalition
IVDFCC impacts youth substance use in the community through its prevention and educational efforts in conjunction with its parent entity, Imperial County Sheriff’s Activities League (ICSAL). Sports, activities, and community education opportunities are used to engage youth in the communities as a way to deter them from drugs and alcohol. IVDFCC also has had an impact on the environment within the communities by hosting community clean ups. Often times the youth sector within the IVDFCC leads activities by painting over graffiti riddled fences, disposing of trash and clearing debris from fence lines and streets. The youth walk away from these events feeling a sense of pride for changing the physical design of their communities. IVDFCC hosts and attends numerous community health and safety fairs offering a wide range of information regarding drug awareness and prevention for all ages within the communities.
